About The Plan
This plan is built around a single objective: preparing you to ride strongly in the mountains on the day that matters. L’Étape du Tour places unique demands on riders, from long sustained climbs to cumulative fatigue over a full day at altitude. This preparation is designed to reflect those realities, not abstract training theory.
The structure follows a progressive build that develops endurance, climbing durability, and the ability to repeat long efforts under fatigue. Each phase has a clear purpose, shaping the specific qualities required for L’Étape, while the plan remains personalised and responsive as your preparation unfolds.
Alongside the training structure, athletes receive race-day pacing guidance, nutritional support across the preparation, access to the dedicated L’Étape du Tour 2026 community, expert webinars, and partner discounts reserved for athletes enrolled in the program.
Meet Your Coach
Loïc Ruffaut has raced and coached athletes for L’Étape du Tour de France, bringing direct experience of the event into every aspect of this preparation. His own racing, including a 2nd place finish at the 2022 edition on Alpe d’Huez, informs how the training is structured and aligned with the demands of race day.
Alongside his racing, Loïc is a highly regarded cycling coach and co-founder of a training structure that has supported more than 150 athletes. He has guided riders to top-10 finishes at L’Étape du Tour and works with athletes of all levels, applying proven training principles and race-specific insight to help them arrive at the start line ready to perform.
“Having raced and coached L’Étape du Tour, I know how demanding this event is. The goal of this preparation is simple: arrive ready for the mountains, confident in your fitness, and able to express your full potential on race day.”
